Vodalend Home Loan Privacy Policy

1. Introduction

Both Mortgage Market (Pty) Ltd (“Mortgage Market”) and Vodacom Payment Services (Pty) Ltd (“VPS”) are committed to respecting the privacy of your personal information. To demonstrate their commitment, Mortgage Market (“we”, “us”, “our”) have created this privacy policy to communicate our intent to provide effective processes for the appropriate handling of such personal information and to comply with applicable legislation such as the Protection of Personal Information Act, 2013 ("POPIA"). 

This privacy policy explains how Mortgage Market will process your personal information via the VodaPay application to potentially offer you a VodaLend Home Loan.

Importantly, the VodaLend Home Loan offering provided on VodaPay is a fully managed service administered and powered by Mortgage Market. As such, and for the avoidance of doubt, Mortgage Market shall be deemed the Responsible Party in terms of POPIA as it relates to all processing activities related to the VodaLend Home Loan offerings and / or the processing activities outlined in this privacy policy. 

VPS shall only be responsible for the processing activities that are undertaken within the VodaPay application outside of the Vodalend Home Loan offering. For more information on the VPS privacy notice please click here.

This Privacy Policy explains how we, as Mortgage Market, collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your personal data when you engage with us. 

2. Who does this Policy apply to?

This policy applies to you if you are:

  • a visitor to our website; or
  • a customer who has requested the services that we provide, or accepts our goods or services.
3. What Personal Information do we collect and process?

We collect personal information that is necessary for our business operations and legal obligations. This includes but is not limited to:

  • Full name, ID number, and contact details
  • Employment and financial information
  • Credit history and banking details
  • Property details for mortgage applications
  • Any other relevant information required for mortgage origination services

We collect personal data directly from you or through third-party sources such as credit bureaus, financial institutions, and legal entities.

4. Purpose of Processing Personal Information

  • Assessing mortgage applications and facilitating loan approvals
  • Conducting affordability assessments and credit checks

  2. During the retention period, we will uphold our confidentiality obligations and will neither share nor sell your personal information.
  3. Your personal information may be retained in physical or electronic form at our discretion.

Unboxing & setup guide

To set up Vodacom Home Internet (5G or LTE), insert the SIM card into an approved router and ensure it's facing the correct direction. Switch on the router and connect a device via Wi-Fi or LAN. The Wi-Fi name and password are usually found on a sticker on the router's underside. You can also log into the router's settings using the IP address on the sticker to manage the network. 

Detailed Setup Guide:

1. Insert SIM Card:

Insert the Vodacom SIM card into the router, ensuring it's the correct size and facing the correct way.

2. Power On and Connect:

Switch on the router and wait for it to start up. Connect a device (laptop/PC) via Wi-Fi or LAN.

3. Find Wi-Fi Details:

Locate the Wi-Fi network name (SSID) and password on the sticker on the bottom of the router.

4. Connect to Wi-Fi:

Turn on Wi-Fi on your device, search for the network name, and enter the password to connect.

5. Router Settings (Optional):

If you want to change the network name or password, log into the router's settings using the IP address found on the sticker. Access the Wi-Fi settings (usually under the Security section) and enter the new network name and password. 

Important Notes:

  • Do not insert or remove the SIM card when the power is on.
  • Do not touch the SIM card's metal contact surface to avoid electrostatic damage.
  • Ensure the router is operating within the specified temperature range (0-45°C).
  • Use the adapter specified for the router to prevent abnormal operation.
  • Vodacom Home Internet (LTE or 5G) is a plug-and-play service, so no installation is required.
  • The router's settings are usually accessible through a web browser after connecting to the Wi-Fi network.
  • Vodacom's APN settings (voda.internet) are automatically detected and saved when you purchase a router.
  • To ensure a smooth setup, deactivate the SIM card PIN before inserting it into the router.

Router placement tips

To optimise Vodacom Home Internet 5G and LTE router placement, place the router centrally, away from walls and obstructions, and in a location with a clear line of sight to devices. Elevating the router can also improve signal strength and avoid placing it near electronic devices that might cause interference. 

 

1. Central Location:

Routers broadcast Wi-Fi signals in all directions. A central location ensures the signal reaches all corners of your home, minimizing dead zones and maximizing coverage. Choose a spot where devices are likely to be used most often, and where the signal can travel unobstructed. 

2. Avoid Obstructions:

Walls, floors, and other solid materials can absorb or weaken Wi-Fi signals. Place the router where it has a clear line of sight to your devices and try to avoid placing it near thick walls or in enclosed areas. 

3. Elevate the Router:

Wi-Fi signals travel up and down as well as out. Placing the router higher can improve signal penetration on upper floors or if you have a multi-story home. If possible, place the router on a tabletop, shelf, or bookcase. 

4. Avoid Interference:

Microwaves, TVs, and other electronic devices can interfere with Wi-Fi signals. Avoid placing the router near these devices or keep them a sufficient distance apart. 

5. Check Router Placement for Optimal Signal:

The router's location can significantly impact the strength and coverage of your Wi-Fi network. If you're experiencing weak Wi-Fi, try moving the router to a different location and testing the signal strength in different areas of your home.

1. Why is there a price increase?

To keep you – and millions of South Africans – connected to the people and moments that matter most is at the heart of who we are. And to help achieve this, we continuously invest in our network to give you a fast, smooth, and reliable experience. To support these improvements, there will be an annual price update from 1 February 2026.

2. When will the annual price increase come into effect?

From 1 February 2026.

3. Will the annual price increase be applied to all plans?

The following postpaid contract plans: RED Integrated, RED Flexi, RED VIP, Home Internet (FWA), Mobile Broadband (SIM-Only data), and Legacy plans will be impacted by the price increase.

4. How do I know what price plan I am on?

Open the VodaPay app and then follow this pathway: View all > My account > Account details > Manage my number

6. Will this change my device financing?

No. We’ve absorbed additional costs to keep device fees, SMS and MMS rates and out-of-bundle data rates unchanged.

7. Are you allowed to change the price?

Vodacom reserves the right to update their terms and conditions as long as customers are made aware of any changes at least 20 working days beforehand. This also doesn’t breach Consumer Protection Act  as the increase is in line with inflation.

8. What if I only just signed my contract?

You’ve joined us during our annual price increase period, however we do understand your cost pressures. That’s why all new and upgrading customers will be given a 2 (two) months grace period.  Please see grace period timelines below.

9. Does the price increase apply to family deals with three lines?

Yes, if the lines are chargeable then price increase will apply.

10. Does the price increase apply to 2025 Black Friday promotions?

Black Friday deals and promotions have been granted a 2-month grace period.  Their increase will be effective 01 March 2026.

11. Does the price increase apply if I’m no longer under contract and on a month-to-month basis?

Yes, it applies to all postpaid contract customers (in-contract and out-of-contract). Those out of contract may experience higher costs because of promotional add-ons and/or discounts falling away at the end of the contract term.

12. I didn’t get any notification of this update?

Vodacom began sending SMS and email notifications to customers about the price increase from 08 December 2025. Please see below table when price increase will impact customers who sign up or upgrade from 01 November 2025.

And to help achieve this, we continuously invest in our network to give you a fast, smooth, and reliable experience. To support these improvements, there will be an annual price update from 1 February 2026.

2. When will the annual price increase come into effect?

From 1 February 2026.

3. Will the annual price increase be applied to all plans?

The following postpaid contract plans: RED Integrated, RED Flexi, RED VIP, Home Internet (FWA), Mobile Broadband (SIM-Only data), and Legacy plans will be impacted by the price increase.

4. How do I know what price plan I am on?

Open the VodaPay app and then follow this pathway: View all > My account > Account details > Manage my number

5. What will my specific price increase be?

6. Will this change my device financing?

No. We’ve absorbed additional costs to keep device fees, SMS and MMS rates and out-of-bundle data rates unchanged.

7. Are you allowed to change the price?

Vodacom reserves the right to update their terms and conditions as long as customers are made aware of any changes at least 20 working days beforehand. This also doesn’t breach Consumer Protection Act  as the increase is in line with inflation.

8. What if I only just signed my contract?

You’ve joined us during our annual price increase period, however we do understand your cost pressures. That’s why all new and upgrading customers will be given a 2 (two) months grace period.  Please see grace period timelines below.

9. Does the price increase apply to family deals with three lines?

Yes, if the lines are chargeable then price increase will apply.

10. Does the price increase apply to 2025 Black Friday promotions?

Black Friday deals and promotions have been granted a 2-month grace period.  Their increase will be effective 01 March 2026.

11. Does the price increase apply if I’m no longer under contract and on a month-to-month basis?

Yes, it applies to all postpaid contract customers (in-contract and out-of-contract). Those out of contract may experience higher costs because of promotional add-ons and/or discounts falling away at the end of the contract term.

12. I didn’t get any notification of this update?

Vodacom began sending SMS and email notifications to customers about the price increase from 08 December 2025. Please see below table when price increase will impact customers who sign up or upgrade from 01 November 2025.

6. Will this change my device financing?

No. We’ve absorbed additional costs to keep device fees, SMS and MMS rates and out-of-bundle data rates unchanged.

7. Are you allowed to change the price?

Vodacom reserves the right to update their terms and conditions as long as customers are made aware of any changes at least 20 working days beforehand. This also doesn’t breach Consumer Protection Act  as the increase is in line with inflation.

8. What if I only just signed my contract?

You’ve joined us during our annual price increase period, however we do understand your cost pressures. That’s why all new and upgrading customers will be given a 2 (two) months grace period.  Please see grace period timelines below.

9. Does the price increase apply to family deals with three lines?

Yes, if the lines are chargeable then price increase will apply.

10. Does the price increase apply to 2025 Black Friday promotions?

Black Friday deals and promotions have been granted a 2-month grace period.  Their increase will be effective 01 March 2026.

11. Does the price increase apply if I’m no longer under contract and on a month-to-month basis?

Yes, it applies to all postpaid contract customers (in-contract and out-of-contract). Those out of contract may experience higher costs because of promotional add-ons and/or discounts falling away at the end of the contract term.

12. I didn’t get any notification of this update?

Vodacom began sending SMS and email notifications to customers about the price increase from 08 December 2025. Please see below table when price increase will impact customers who sign up or upgrade from 01 November 2025.

  • From 1 February 2026 for new contracts and upgrades finalised before 31 October 2025.
  • From 1 March 2026 for new contracts and upgrades finalised 1 November – 31 December 2025.

1. Why is there a price increase?

To keep you – and millions of South Africans – connected to the people and moments that matter most is at the heart of who we are. And to help achieve this, we continuously invest in our network to give you a fast, smooth, and reliable experience. To support these improvements, there will be an annual price update from 1 February 2026.

2. When will the annual price increase come into effect?

From 1 February 2026.

3. Will the annual price increase be applied to all plans?

The following postpaid contract plans: RED Integrated, RED Flexi, RED VIP, Home Internet (FWA), Mobile Broadband (SIM-Only data), and Legacy plans will be impacted by the price increase.

4. How do I know what price plan I am on?

Open the VodaPay app and then follow this pathway: View all > My account > Account details > Manage my number
