Everything you need to know...

    When you're out of airtime, data or voice, you can get airtime, data or voice in advance when you need it most and only pay the next time you recharge your account.

    • In order to qualify, you must be either a Prepaid or Hybrid Customer and must have:
      o been active on our network for at least 3 months; and
      o recharged with a minimum total of at least R29 per month over 3 months.
    • The Service is also available to eligible Vodacom uChoose and Top Up customers, provided that your account has been paid up to the month prior.
    • Post-paid customers do not currently qualify for Airtime Advance.
    • To see if you qualify for Vodacom Airtime Advance, simply dial *135*082#. You can also read the Airtime Advance terms and conditions to find out if you qualify for the service.
    • If you qualify for Airtime Advance, dial *135# and then select 'Airtime & Transfers' or *135*082# and then select 'Airtime'
    • Select an Airtime Advance option as per your qualifying criteria.
    • You will then see the confirmation message, select ‘1’ to Confirm. 
    • If you qualify for Data Advance, dial *135# and then select 'Airtime & Transfers' or *135*082# and then select 'Data'.
    • Select from the 20MB, 35MB, 75MB, 120MB and 300MB Data Advance options as per your qualifying criteria.
    • You will then see the confirmation message, select ‘1’ to Confirm.

    • You will then see the confirmation message, select ‘1’ to Confirm. 
    • The cost of taking an Airtime, Data, Voice Advance is just R1,20 (VAT inclusive) for every R10 or part thereof advanced per Advance for both Airtime Data & Voice Advances.
    • If you take a Data Advance of 300MB for R19, a total of R21,40 will be deducted (R10 + R9 ) + (2 x R1,20 access fee). 
    • Outstanding Airtime Advance, Data & Voice Advances will be deducted from ANY recharges, including Airtime Transfers, CRM recharge incentives. For avoidance of doubt, outstanding Airtime Advance, Data or Voice Advances will not be deducted from any Advance taken within the Max Limit, and only actual recharges.
    • The Access Fee plus the Airtime Advance amount, Data or Voice Advance value will be recovered per advance in order to cater for costs incurred.

    The payment of the Airtime, Data and/or Voice Advance will work as follows:

    Example A:

    If a customer has taken a R10 Airtime Advance and recharges R20, only R8.80 will be left due to the following:
    The R10 (Airtime Advance) + R1.20 (access fee) = R11.20 will be deducted leaving the customer with a balance of R8.80.

    Example B:

    If the customer has taken R5 Data Advance and recharges R7, R.0.80 amount will be left due to the following:
    The R5 (Data Advance) + R.1.20 (access fee) = R6.20 will be deducted, leaving a balance of R0.80.

    •  The Airtime Advance / Data Advance / Voice Advance value together with the Access Fee must be paid back within 30 days from the date of the Advance repaid on your next recharge.
    • For Prepaid Customers, if you don't repay the Advance within 30 days, you may be disqualified from the Service at the end of the immediate month following the 30 days or, depending on your profile, your Max Limit may be adjusted downwards.
    • For uChoose/TopUp customers, the Airtime, Data & Voice Advance value must be paid within the 30 days of the request. Sshould the customer not recharge within 30 days and/or the full value is not paid within the calendar month, the outstanding Advance amount will be added to the customer's monthly bill for that calendar month which will become due and payable on their next payment.

    Yes, airtime from Airtime Advance can be used like normal airtime to buy data or voice bundles.

    No, airtime from Airtime Advance is like normal airtime and does not expire.

    The allocation of Airtime Advance does not trigger any recharge benefits/incentives. When you recharge to pay your outstanding Airtime Advances, this will trigger recharge benefits such as Night Shift, Talking Points, Extra Airtime, etc.

    Your Airtime Advance total credit limit is dependent on how often and by how much you recharge; if you keep your recharges (amount and frequency) the same, your limit will remain the same, but if your recharges change, your total credit limit may increase or decrease based on your recharges.

    Outstanding Airtime Advances are deducted from your next recharge(s) until the full outstanding amount is paid.

    Before 6 May 2025:

    Your Airtime Advance was taken before 6 May 2025 and for the R10 Airtime Advance you have taken; you were charged a R1.10 Access Fee that was added to your outstanding amount and deducted from your next recharge(s).

    After 6 May 2025:

    Your Airtime Advance was taken after the 6 May 2025 and for the R10 Airtime Advance you have taken; you were charged a R1.20 access fee that was added to your outstanding amount and deducted from your next recharge(s).

    All recharges as well as incoming Airtime Transfers will be deducted to pay any outstanding Airtime Advances.

    Yes, airtime from Airtime Advance can be used like normal airtime. It can be transferred as per the Airtime Transfer rules.

    uChoose or Top Up customer? If the Advance is not paid by the end of the calendar month, the outstanding amount will be added to your monthly bill for that calendar month.

    • You need to qualify to use the service. Refer to question 2 above.
    • In order continuously use the Service ONCE qualified, you, as the customer, will need to continuously recharge every 30 days.
    • Where you have not fulfilled the required monthly recharge, you may be disqualified from the Service at the end of the immediate month following the 30 days; or depending on your profile, your Limit may be adjusted downwards.
    • uChoose / Top Up customer? You need to have paid your account up to one month prior before you can qualify to use the service. Accounts in arrears do not qualify for Airtime Advance.
    • In order to requalify to use the Service, you will need to recharge with a minimum R29.00 per month for a period of 3 months in a row.
    • If a customer has a R75 outstanding Airtime Advance and purchases a 1.5GB for R99 using their banking App. The customer will not be allocated the 1.5GB. However, R49.50 will be used to partially pay their outstanding Airtime Advance and thereafter the customer will receive the balance of R49.50 as airtime. The customer will then have an outstanding Airtime Advance balance of R25.50. The customer will receive the SMS once the recovery has been completed with the portion recovered and balance in airtime.
    • If a customer has a R25 outstanding Airtime Advance and purchases a 1.5GB for R99 using their banking App. The customer will not be allocated the 1.5GB. However, R25 will be used to fully repay their outstanding Airtime Advance and thereafter the customer will receive the balance of R74.00 as airtime. The customer will not have any outstanding Airtime Advance.
       
    • If a Hybrid and Top Up Customers has an outstanding Airtime Advance that is older than 30-days, and purchases a bundle without their airtime, Vodacom will use this bundle purchase to recover their outstanding advance. However, should the Hybrid and Top Up Customers not purchase a bundle or recharge within 30-days, then the Airtime Advance outstanding will then be added to your monthly bill.
       
    • The customer will receive the SMS post the recovery notifying the Customer of the portion of the bundle purchase that was recovered towards their outstanding airtime advance and balance in airtime.

      Voucher Advance is available as a "buy now pay later" only to prepaid and hybrid Vodacom customers. Prepaid/hybrid, as well as post-paid customers, can use the "Buy Now" option to purchase the voucher outright.

      Prepaid and hybrid customers who have been active on the Vodacom network for at least six months and have a proven track record of buying airtime or data bundles.

      This is a Vodacom customer who buys their airtime/data in advance.

      No, post-paid customers can only purchase vouchers to be used for buying at Nando's and Hirsch's.

      This is a Vodacom airtime/data customer who has entered into a subscription agreement with Vodacom.

      Post-paid customers may use their debit/credit cards to purchase a voucher or use the card details stored on the My Vodacom App.

      Vodacom is very responsible about issuing advances. Only people who have been customers for six months can qualify for an advance, as they have proved that they are reliable and have a certain income with which to pay back the money.

      The Voucher Advance framework helps customers who may be excluded from accessing credit products through traditional banking markets, creating an opportunity to access small "bite-size" credit advance offerings in a responsible and controllable way.

      This is because Vodacom is very careful to advance vouchers to those who can pay it back. Anyone who has been declined might not have been a customer for six months or their credit rating may not be right for this kind of loan.

      A big data credit scoring AI tool enables Vodacom to uniquely credit score customers in a prudent and efficient manner.

      Vouchers are purchased via the My Vodacom App - click on "Buy", then on the "Vouchers" tab. Under Vouchers, there are two categories currently; Retail and Food, with multiple additional categories to be added over the course of the next few months.

      Select voucher type and value, choose either: "Buy Now - Get a little extra on the Buy Now Vouchers", or: "Advance - Receive your voucher now and we'll debit your card on a date you choose".

      The customer will get charged only after a 30 days period at a monthly charge of R5 (R25 voucher) and R10 (R50, R75 vouchers). The fees charged are in accordance with the NCA.

      They pay this back within the chosen 3, 7, or 14 days selected by the customer, the customer's selected card would be debited on the chosen day.

      The customer can resend the voucher to themselves via the My Vodacom App.

      Advance vouchers can be bought as often as needed if the outstanding Advance amount is repaid within the chosen time frame of 3, 7, or 14 days.

      In order to limit risk exposure for the customer, the Voucher Advances vouchers are limited to one purchase at a time and additional advances can only be taken when the outstanding amount is paid in full.

      Prepaid and hybrid customers may only take one advance at a time. However, customers may purchase multiple vouchers using the "Buy Now" option. All vouchers for a specific vendor may be used in store to pay for a total basket of goods. For example: a customer takes a R50 advance and purchases 4x R50 vouchers on the "Buy Now" option. All five vouchers may be redeemed in store to cover the total purchase.

      Food vouchers are available between R25 and R75.

      Prepaid and hybrid customer can qualify for amounts ranging from R25 to R75.

      Post-paid customers benefit from the extra value stored within the voucher. For example, if a customer buys a R50 voucher, they will receive R55 worth of value on the voucher itself.

      There is no service fee - it will cost R75 if it is paid upfront or paid back within the chosen, 3,7 or 14-day period. Fees will be charged only after 30-days from the advance of the voucher if payment has not been made.

      Customers who don't pay back the advance within 30 days will be charged a service fee of either R5 or R10 per month - depending on the value of the voucher.

      A Voucher is valid for up to three years from date of issue.

      Vodacom currently has Nando's and Hirsch's as partner vendors. More partners will be announced soon.

      Vodacom (Pty) Ltd is running a promotion where prepaid customers will be rewarded with a FREE monthly subscription to Prime Video Mobile Edition worth R59.00 (fifty-nine Rand) per month as well as 3GB (three gigabytes) of streaming data for 12 (twelve) months by signing up for a Vodacom Easy 2 Own device and having the device unlocked for more than 15 (fifteen) days per month.

      Prime Video Mobile Edition is a premium video streaming service which gives you access the best local and international content on your mobile phone. You can either stream or download your favourite show to watch later, at your convenience.

      All participants during the Promotion Period agree to be bound by the following Terms and Conditions:

      Duration

      1. The Promotional Offer is open to all Vodacom Prepaid Easy 2 Own customers residing in South Africa, who meet the purchase criteria, from 06h00 on 29 August 2025 to 23h59 on 31 October 2025 (the Promotion Period).
      2. The duration of the Competition may be extended or curtailed at the discretion of Vodacom.

      Reward

      1. To accept rewards, qualifying customers will be sent a Push Notification with the sign-up link and/or a SMS notification and asked to reply ‘PVME’ to 31118. Thereafter, they will receive a link sent via SMS, to register and access their rewards. The rewards start date will be the date of first activation of the Prime Video Mobile Edition services account.
      2. Qualifying customers who are eligible for rewards acknowledge, understand, and agree that-
      • they will need to activate a 12 (twelve) month FREE subscription for Prime Video Mobile Edition.
      • customers who wish to continue with the Prime Video Mobile Edition service post the FREE period will be billed for R59.00 (fifty-nine Rand) monthly.
      • customers wishing not to be billed after the FREE period should cancel the subscription after the FREE period.
      • if a customer terminates, cancels or ports-out his/her number, such customer forfeits the use of any unused rewards from the time of cancellation onwards.

      Valid Entry

      1. To be eligible to receive a reward in the Promotional Offer, participants must sign up for a Vodacom Easy 2 Own device during the stipulated Promotion Period from any Vodacom branded channel (Vodacom shop, 4U, Chatz & Independent Dealers).
      2. Customers should have their device unlocked for at least 15 (fifteen) days a month, every month of the free trail period to continue receiving the monthly access to Prime Video Mobile Edition and the 3GB (three gigabytes) streaming data.
      3. There are no additional charges for participating in the Competition.
      4. Vodacom shall not be liable for any costs incurred by the winners for entering the Competition or in claiming any prizes, where applicable. 

      Eligibility

      1. All prepaid customers who have taken up an Easy 2 Own device during the Promotion Period.
      2. To qualify for the monthly 3GB streaming data, the customer needs to have their device unlocked for at least 15 (fifteen) days, every month of the free trail period.
      3. Only participants who are using SIM cards that have been RICA registered are eligible to receive a reward in the Promotional Offer. Each owner of a SIM card(s) is responsible to comply with South African law by RICA registering their SIM cards.
      4. Participants must reside in South Africa and be in possession of a valid South African identity document or permanent residence permit or temporary residence permit valid for a period exceeding 3 (three) months for the Republic of South Africa and valid at the End Date.

      Rewards

      1. All qualifying customers will receive the reward. The allocation of the reward is automated.
      2. The rewards are not transferable or exchangeable and may not be redeemed for cash.

      Cancellation of the reward / Prime Video Mobile Edition Service

      1. Customers can unsubscribe from the Prime Video Mobile Edition service at any time and for any reason by following the “cancel” prompts available within the Prime Video Mobile Edition Service menu, or by:
      • using Vodacom self-service channels.
      • calling Vodacom Customer Care: 082135.
      • dial USSD: *135#.
      • visit WEB: primevideo.com
      • via Vodapay App.
      1. When cancelling/ unsubscribing from the Prime Video Mobile Edition Service, you accept that your old profile and preferences will be retained for a 6 (six) month period and for no longer than 5 (five) years (only if necessary), in order to facilitate a convenient experience should you choose to re-subscribe at a later stage within the 6 (six) month period.

      Personal information

      1. User data collected via the promotion will not be used for any other purpose than for execution of the promotion.
      2. User data collected via entry for this promotional will be stored for as long as it is legally required to and in accordance with Vodacom’s Privacy Policy.

      General

      1. Nothing in these Terms and Conditions is intended to, or must be understood to, unlawfully restrict, limit, or avoid any rights or obligations, as the case may be, created for either the participant or the promoter in terms of the Consumer Protection Act, 68 of 2008 ("CPA").
      2. Vodacom’s decision on any aspect of the Promotion including the allocation of the rewards will be final and binding and no correspondence will be entered into.
      3. In the event of a dispute regarding any aspect of the promotion and/or the Terms and Conditions, Vodacom’s decision will be final, and binding and no correspondence will be entered into.
      4. Vodacom may refuse to award a reward if entry procedures or these Terms and Conditions have not been adhered to or if it detects any irregularities or fraudulent practices. Vodacom is entitled in its entire discretion to reject any participant for any reason and will not be obliged to notify participants that they are rejected.
      5. Vodacom and/or any other person or party associated with the Promotion, their associated companies, agents, contractors and sponsors and any of its personnel involved in the Promotion, shall not be liable whatsoever for any loss or damage incurred or suffered (including but not limited to direct or indirect or consequential loss), death or personal injury suffered or sustained arising from either participation in the Promotion or from claiming the reward.
      6. Vodacom, its directors, employees, agents, and distributors, are not responsible for any misrepresentation (whether written or verbal) in respect of any prize nor in respect of any warranties, guarantees or undertakings given by any person other than Vodacom itself.
      7. If Vodacom is required by law to alter or cancel any aspect of the Promotion or to terminate it because of changes in legislation, or for any reason whatsoever, it will have the right to terminate the Promotional Offer being offered, with immediate effect and without notice. In such event all participants hereby waive any rights which they may have against Vodacom and its associated companies, agents, contractors and/or sponsors.
