Terms and Conditions

  1. The following Terms and Conditions relate to the Vodacom RED VIP price plans. These Terms and Conditions must be read in conjunction with the standard Terms and Conditions contained in the Vodacom Contract airtime agreement, and the Terms and Conditions Booklet. Where any terms and conditions conflict with each other, these RED VIP price plans terms and conditions will prevail.

  2. These Terms and Conditions do not replace any other Terms and Conditions, agreements or contracts that exist between the customer and Vodacom.

  3. Your subscription to the Service constitutes your acceptance of these Terms and Conditions. Vodacom reserves the right to modify the Service(s) where reasonably required, and may from time to time expand on these Terms and Conditions. You will be bound by all current Terms and Conditions.

  4. The Voice bundle included on RED VIP price plans will be available for use for calls to any local network, within the borders of South Africa, at any time of the day.

  5. General Service and VAS calls will have the out-of-bundle call rate applied respective of your price plan. Data and SMS usage over and above the monthly bundled allocation, other bundled allocations, or to premium rated services will also have the out-of-bundle rate applied, unless otherwise stipulated. Out of bundle charges are R0.49 per MB.

  6. Voice, SMS and Data bundles allocated on RED VIP price plans, will have a carry-over of 1 calendar month post the allocation month. Voice minutes carried over on migration from another Vodacom bundled price plan will be subject to the same carry-over rule. All unused bundles at the time of expiry will be forfeited.

  7. Vodacom reserves the right to charge for VoIP calls on selected price plans and at applicable lodged rates.

  8. More Weekend Minutes will be excluded from all new RED VIP Price Plans.

  9. If you migrate to or from a RED VIP Plan with a limitless voice and/or SMS option, there will be no migratory carry-over of any voice bundles/free minutes, and/or SMS bundles to or from this Price Plan.

  10. If a migration is performed from a Price Plan with bundled Voice, SMS or Data, as part of the Price Plan offer, to any other Price Plan, regardless of whether the new Price Plan selected incorporates any bundled Voice, SMS or Data offerings;  you may forfeit all, or a portion of the accumulated bundle/s.

  11. Migrations from a RED VIP with a limitless Voice and SMS offer, will not carry over any benefits from the limitless RED VIP Price Plan to the new Price Plan.

  12. Calls or connections to Value Added Services are excluded from the inclusive voice bundles, and will be charged for separately at the general service, VAS and Out Of Bundle call rate respective of your price plan. See the table in term 5 for more information.

  13. The voice bundles allocated on RED VIP price plans, will be applicable for use in the following scenarios:

    1. Vodacom to Cell C, MTN, Vodacom and Telkom Mobile (Any Network Any Time) within the borders of South Africa, including VoLTE (Voice over LTE) and VoWi-Fi (Voice over Wi-Fi/Wi-Fi Calling) calls made to these mobile networks using compatible devices.

    2. Vodacom to Telkom Landline, Neotel Landline and all VANs numbers (VANS 087 numbers, geographic and non-geographic numbers, Vodacom Business)

    3. Voicemail deposits

    Bundled voice and limitless voice offers are not applicable to international calls, roaming calls and VoIP data calls made on a compatible device.

  1. The following calls are included with the limitless voice offer, with the exception that if the dialed B party number is within the exclusion list below, it will be not form part of the limitless voice allocation:

    1. Bridge Conference Calls

    2. Directory Enquiries / Through Connect portion

  2. The following categories shall be excluded from RED VIP Voice/SMS bundles and shall be charged for at the current prevailing price plan rate, unless otherwise indicated:

    1.  International calls

    2. Premium rated calls

    3. Roaming services

    4. .Premium rated IVR

    5. Premium rated Dicon

    6. Special Short Codes

    7. Video IVR

    8. International VAS and Premium services

    9. Travel Talk

    10. Conference Calls

    11. Call Sponsor (sponsored calls are charged at the sponsored party's prevailing price plan rate)

  3. RED VIP price plans with the limitless voice benefit will be subject to the following acceptable usage policy:

    1. Price Plans with the limitless/Unlimited voice benefit will be subject to the following acceptable monthly usage policy. Any extreme usage which may have an impact on the operation of our network may be monitored. Customer will receive notifications when they have 2500min remaining, and when they have 1000min remaining. When the threshold of 7500/4500 respectively is reached, outbound voice calls will be barred until such time that a voice bundle is purchased. Calls to free emergency services and/or charged international or premium rated service numbers will continue to be billed at the respective out of bundle voice rate. The counter will be reset at the beginning of each calendar month. Vodacom reserves the right to apply and implement protection measures to safeguard customers' experience and the Vodacom network against abuse to ensure continuous service quality or sustainability of the service.

    2. Intelligent call routing devices and bulk calling applications are not permitted on these price plans. If the SIM card is used in a fixed location or other device to regularly make calls abusing the limitless Voice offer, the service will be suspended immediately.

    3.  Vodacom reserves the right to suspend the service in the event of suspected abuse where non-compliant devices as specified by the regulating body ICASA are being used on the Vodacom network.

    4. The limitless/unlimited voice offer on selected RED VIP plan(s) may not be used for commercial purposes. Any use of this offer outside of what is considered reasonable for private, non-commercial use and in instances through mechanisms and means not intended for personal use or the anticipated purpose of the offer will be considered as abuse.

    5. Limitless voice minutes may not be used as part of any bulk calling service for commercial or business purposes...

  4. Customers on RED VIP price plans will qualify for 2 free Data Sharing SIM cards. This includes the monthly subscription fee/s and the once-off activation fee/s.

  5. The Data Sharing SIM cards will be activated when requested by the account holder.

  6. Standard monthly subscription fee/s and once- off activation fees for a Data Sharing SIM will be charged for the 3rd and 4th SIM/s requested and activated.

  7. Customers migrating to a price plan that does not include the free Data Sharing SIM/s will be migrated as normal, however the Data Sharing SIM cards will then be charged for monthly going forward at the applicable subscription fee for the Data Sharing SIM/s. Data Sharing SIM cards can be activated or cancelled at any time without penalty. See Data Sharing SIM card/s terms and conditions for more information

  8. The limitless SMS option available on RED VIP price plans will include on net and off net national SMS.

  9. The following SMSs categories shall be excluded from the limitless SMS bundle benefit:

    1. International

    2. Premium rated

    3. Content services

    4. VAS services

  10. The limitless/unlimited SMS allocation will be available for the duration of the contract and/or while on any of the specific RED VIP price plans which offer limitless SMS as part of the standard price plan

  11. RED VIP price plans with a limitless SMS allocation will be subject to the following acceptable usage policy:

    1. RED VIP price plans will have a Fair Usage Policy implemented on the limitless SMS feature of 9000 SMS messages per month. Customers will receive notifications when they have 1000 SMSs remaining, and when all 9000 SMS messages have been used, SMS message sending will be barred until such time that an SMS bundle is purchased. The counter will be reset at the beginning of each calendar month. Any extreme usage which may have an impact on the operation of our network may be monitored. Vodacom reserves the right to apply and implement protection measures to safeguard customers' experience and the Vodacom network against abuse to ensure continuous service quality or sustainability of the service.

    2. SMSs may not be used as part of any bulk SMS sending service for commercial or business purposes.

    3. RED VIP price plans and SMS bundles are not available to WASP and content providers and cannot be used for bulk message sending.

    4. If the SIM card is used in a fixed geographic location to regularly send bulk SMSs to multiple numbers, the service will be suspended immediately.

    5. Vodacom reserves the right to suspend the service in the event of suspected abuse where non-compliant devices as specified by the regulating body ICASA are being used on the Vodacom network.

    6. The limitless/unlimited SMS RED VIP price plans may not be used for commercial purposes. Any use of this offer outside of what is considered reasonable for private, non-commercial use and in instances through mechanisms and means not intended for personal use or the anticipated purpose of the offer will be considered as abuse.

  12. RED VIP price plans, signed on a 24 month contractual basis, will have a term of 24 months starting from the day of activation. Upgrade or renewal is permissible in month 22 of the term. Early cancellation of the 24 month contract will incur monetary penalties calculated using the remaining term of the contract and/or device finance costs. At the end of the contractual period of 24 months, if the customer does no renew or cancel the contract, the contract will continue on a month-to-month basis until either of the afore mentioned actions takes place.

  13. RED VIP price plans activated mid-month, will have their associated bundle allocations (Voice, SMS and Data), as well as the monthly subscription fee, pro-rated for that month respective of the day of activation.

  14. Vodacom reserves the right to amend these terms and conditions and where such change is material, Vodacom shall provide prior written notice of such change or amendment.

RED VIP Platinum and Diamond Club

Terms & Conditions 

General: 

Vodacom RED Diamond and Platinum Club benefits are subject to the following terms and conditions:

Customers will be eligible to access the RED VIP Platinum Club benefits when they are activated on the RED VIP 10GB and 25GB price plans, or their Top Up equivalent price plans. Similarly, customers will be eligible to access the benefits on the RED VIP Diamond Club benefits when they are activated on the RED VIP 100GB price plan.

To earn eligibility into the RED Diamond or Platinum Club benefits, you have purchased a 24 or 36 Vodacom RED VIP 100GB Unlimited (or the Top Up variant) for Diamond or RED 10GB / RED VIP 25GB for Platinum (or the Top Up variant).  The Vodacom cellphone number associated with your RED VIP price plan, will then serve as your VIP Club membership number.

Membership to the RED VIP Diamond or Platinum Club and access to all associated benefits, rewards and services are linked to the duration of your RED VIP 100GB price plan (this is either 24 or 36 months).

To take advantage of the new phone upgrade every year, the customer needs to have upgraded or signed up to the RED VIP 100GB with a device (phone), not a SIM / Price Plan migration. Customers who migrate whilst in life on their contract will not qualify for the phone upgrade every year, until they upgrade their price with a device, however, they will have access to all the other RED VIP Diamond Club benefits.   The count towards the device upgrade will only be in effect from month one of the new contract sign up / upgrade / activation.   

Any and all benefits associated with the RED VIP Diamond or Platinum Club membership are available and applicable for the duration of your RED VIP contract.  By default, if the contract goes beyond 24 / 36 months and it is not upgraded, then you forfeit all the associated benefits linked to eh RED Diamond Club. 

Membership of the RED VIP Diamond or Platinum Club benefits will be forfeited immediately if you:

  1. Port your number to another network operator.

  2. Cancel your price plan  / contract and convert to prepaid 

  3. Upgrade or Migrate to any other plan, other than RED VIP 100GB

Platinum Service Desk access:

You will be routed directly to the Platinum Service Desk when calling 082 135 from the cellphone number that is associated to the Diamond Club Benefits.

Annual device [phone] upgrade benefit:

Annual device upgrade benefit (An opportunity to new handset every year) - Applicable to only RED VIP 100GB (Diamond Club) customers

  1. RED VIP 100GB customer are eligible for a device upgrade:

    1. After 12 months from the date of activation of the applicable upgrade if the contract term is 24 months; or

    2. After 18 months from the date of activation of the applicable upgrade if the contract term is 36 months. Should your account not be in good standing, you will be automatically removed from the Diamond Cub Benefits and none of the benefits will apply, including the yearly handset upgrade.

  2. Customers who  chose to take up the option of upgrading their device, need to note the following:

    1. The payment for the original device [phone] will still continue until the end of the 12 months remaining in the contract.

    2. The subscription amount [tariff / price plan] on the contract details and / or invoice will not be changed, however the duration will be extended to 24 months, which is calculated at the commencement of the new device [phone] upgrade. 

    3. You [customer] will be paying for both device [phone] cost, for the new and old device [phone] for 12 months, whilst the costs intersect / cross over. This cost will be reflected in the customer's monthly bill / invoice and will also be included in the quote shared with the customer once the upgrade has been initiated or requested.   

  3. The range of devices available for the upgrade is dependent on your applicable price plan.

  4. Device insurance is your responsibility.

  5. Please remember to check your cellphone insurance after each upgrade to ensure it is insured for its replacement value. The Platinum Service Desk consultants will be able to assist you.

  6. Eligibility for the upgrade period will be confirmed to you through email and SMS communication from Vodacom.

  7. Upgrade of the device will be done through our retail, online or call centre (082 1903) channels.   

Activating RED VIP benefits

Data Share:

A convenient and hassle free Data sharing solution for myRED customers. Share data, anytime, with up to 6 people on any Postpaid or Hybrid price plan. You can share using the My Vodacom App or online.

Share with 6 contacts (MSISDN's) on Vodacom (Postpaid & Hybrid can receive the share while sharing can only be done from myRED Postpaid, not Hybrid).

  1. Share Anytime.

  2. Share up to 25GB.

How to access data share in 3 simple steps:

  1. Log into your My Vodacom Account (Online or through the My Vodacom App).

  2. Click on Family Share and the select the Vodacom friend or family member you would like to share data with.

  3. Choose the amount of data you would like to share, you will be charged R25/month for each link (MSISDN) you share with. If you remove the link, you will not be charged.

Share Multi Data SIMs:

Get up to 2 free additional data SIM cards linked to your primary contract (Only available to contract customers). SIMs can be used simultaneously in your smartphone, tablet and laptop. Multi Data SIM lets you use up to four additional data SIM cards - all linked to your primary contract - in different devices, making it easier to manage and ensure that you never run out of data on your tablet, router and dongle.

To enjoy the benefits of multi-data SIM, a customer needs to request the sim upon activation of the contract in store or through Vodacom Direct.

  • Customer is liable to pay the SIM connection fee (You have to pay for each SIM connections fee so that the SIM is activated on the Vodacom network)

  • The customer will get 2x free SIM cards (free subscriptions, still liable for SIM connection fee).

  • Should you require more SIMS you will be charged at R25 per SIM card per month. (RED VIP customers, the subscription for 2x SIM is wavered. For example, if you choose not to get the 2 extra SIMs, they will not be charged the monthly subscription fee of R25, only when they pick up the third SIM will they get a monthly charge of R25.

  • Activation of the extra SIM takes place in-store or via the call centre (082 135)

How do benefits work?

  • How do I get the benefit? Each mobile number must opt-in by confirming details and accepting the promotion terms and conditions to activate your benefits via the My Vodacom App. If your details are incorrect on the My Vodacom App, please visit your nearest Vodacom Shop with your ID document to update your details.

  • My child/partner uses another mobile number, which is under my name; will the other mobile number qualify for the benefit? Benefits are allocated per mobile number and the contract price plan, which the number belongs to. Benefits can only be accessed and redeemed by persons above the age of 18 years.

  • How many mobile numbers qualify under my account? Good news, there is no limit to the number of lines you can nominate to receive benefits, as long as the number reflects within the qualifying contract price plan.

  • Do benefits expire? Benefits are valid from 1 January to 31 December each year. Benefits cannot be carried over to the next year, with the exception of travel booked for the following year -if booked and paid for in full.

  • If I move to another price plan, will I lose my benefits? If you move to a higher plan, you will qualify and enjoy benefits on that particular plan from the next billing cycle. However, if you downgrade i.e. move to a lower plan then you will qualify for benefits on that particular plan from the next billing cycle, or miss out on the benefits if you move to a price plan that does not qualify for these benefits. Refer to invoice for your next billing cycle. See table above for qualifying plans.

  • Can I access benefits on USSD? Benefits can be viewed on USSD but can only be activated and redeemed on the MyVodacom App.

  • What happens if my account is in arrears? Please ensure your account is up to date to enjoy these benefits. Should you falter on payment; benefits will cease immediately and reactivate from the next billing cycle.

  •  I am out of contract now, as I do not want to upgrade with Vodacom, do I still qualify for benefits? Unfortunately, to enjoy these benefits, you will need to renew/upgrade your contract. At month 24 (last day of contract term) of your Vodacom contract, all benefits will cease. Benefits will be reactivated 30 days after you have signed up for a new Vodacom contract.

  • My discount does not reflect, who do I call? Call 082 135 and you will be directed to the relevant travel partner.
