Vodacom PowerFlex is a promotional prepaid subscription plan with a monthly recurring payment. The promotion offer will be available from 6 May 2025 to 30 April 2026. It is available exclusively online via www.vodacom.co.za and the VodaPay App. By subscribing to Vodacom PowerFlex (“the Service”), you acknowledge and agree to these Terms.
- General
- Vodacom reserves the right to change or extend the promotional period, provided reasonable prior notice is given.
- Vodacom reserves the right to update these terms and conditions and where such change is significant, Vodacom shall provide its customers with reasonable written notice before implementing any such change.
- Vodacom reserves the right to suspend the service in the event of suspected abuse or fraudulent usage beyond what is considered reasonable for personal, non-commercial use.
- Vodacom reserves the right to limit the service in regions or areas where there is limited network capacity (high congestion) in order to maintain consistent quality of service.
- Vodacom reserves the right to alter or terminate the service in order to prevent a disruption on the network.
- Vodacom reserves the right to suspend, cancel or change the Service with reasonable notice.
- Nothing in these Terms and Conditions is intended to, or must be understood to, unlawfully restrict, limit or avoid any rights or obligations, as the case may be, created for the customer in terms of the Consumer Protection Act, 68 of 2008 ("CPA").
- Availability and Eligibility
- PowerFlex is a Prepaid monthly subscription plan
- Eligible customers will be able to subscribe to PowerFlex through these channels:
- The availability and details of offers may vary depending on the channel used
- Customers may subscribe to PowerFlex in one of the following ways:
- By choosing a new SIM card during the subscription process, only available online.
- By using their existing Vodacom number also known as “Keep My Number” and migrating to the PowerFlex price plan, subject to eligibility. Available both online and on VodaApp.
- Subscription through a New SIM CARD:
- To activate the Vodacom PowerFlex price plan using a new SIM card, customers must successfully complete the RICA verification process in accordance with South African regulations. Once verified, the customer must insert the new SIM card into their device to initiate and activate the PowerFlex subscription. Failure to complete RICA or insert the SIM will result in the subscription not being activated.
- Subscription through Keep My Number Migration:
- Migration to the PowerFlex price plan is only available during the subscription process and must be completed online or via the VodaPay App. Customers will be notified during the process if their current price plan qualifies for migration. Migration is not available via in-store, call centre, or other offline channels.
- Only selected Prepaid customers are eligible to migrate (Free Change) from their current price plan to the Vodacom PowerFlex price plan while retaining their existing mobile number. Customers will be notified upfront during the subscription process if their price plan qualifies for migration to PowerFlex.
- Customers who have free changed into the Powerflex price plan will not be allowed to Free-Change (migrate) out.
- To successfully subscribe to the PowerFlex price plan, a successful payment must be made using a valid bank card. This requirement applies to all customers subscribing via online channels or the VodaPay App
- A customer can only have 1 offer active in a month. Should the data allocation be depleted before month end, the customer can purchase any of the available open market data bundles from our Self-Help channels.
- Customers on the Vodacom PowerFlex price plan will have access to prepaid open market voice and data bundles.
- Vodacom reserves the right to restrict the number of Vodacom PowerFlex price plans to a maximum of three per customer, encompassing factors such as the South African ID number, credit/debit card number, and more.
- Recurring Payment and Monthly Allocation
- By completing the payment process when subscribing to any of the PowerFlex price plans, the customer agrees to automatic recurring monthly payments, which will be deducted from their bank card on their billing or anniversary date. Monthly allocations will be applied on the same date.
- In the event that the recurring monthly subscription payment is unsuccessful, the subscription will be cancelled. The customer will receive an SMS notification explaining the reason for the failure. The message will include a link to update banking details and make the payment through the VodaPay App.
- Once the payment is successfully processed, the customer's recurring inclusive value will be reinstated, and the date of the successful payment will become the new billing or anniversary date.
- Please note that monthly allocations will not be applied until a successful payment is received. However, the customer will still maintain their network access and will be able to recharge with open market voice and data bundles.
- Plan Flexibility and Changes
- Customers have the flexibility to upgrade or downgrade their PowerFlex price plan at any time using the VodaPay App. Any changes made will take effect on the customer's next billing or anniversary date, and will include the updated recurring subscription charge and revised monthly allocation based on the selected plan.
- Please note that available upgrade or downgrade options may vary from time to time. Not all PowerFlex offers will always be available for upgrade or downgrade, and availability is subject to change at Vodacom’s discretion.
- Recharge and Top-Up Options
- Customers can recharge their PowerFlex account with airtime using any of Vodacom’s existing Self-Help channels.
- In addition, customers have the flexibility to top up with open market voice and data bundles. These bundles can be purchased using either their airtime balance or a credit/debit card, depending on their preference and availability.

- 17 GB Anytime Data + Unlimited Any Network Minutes + Unlimited SMS
- 22 GB Anytime Data + Unlimited Any Network Minutes + Unlimited SMS
- Usage and Order of Consumption
- Data will be consumed in the following order:
- Free or promotional data bundles will be used first
- Once-off ad hoc bundles purchased by the customer will be used next
- Inclusive recurring data value from the PowerFlex subscription will be used thereafter
- If airtime has been recharged, it will be used once all bundles are depleted
- Bundles with the shortest validity period will always deplete first
- The voice allocation is valid for 30 days.
- Data allocation is valid for 60 days
- The Data allocations as part of the PowerFlex offer are eligible for transfer. Customers may transfer data to other eligible Vodacom Prepaid customers. For more information on data transfer: https://www.vodacom.co.za/vodacom/terms/data-bundle-transfer-terms-and-conditions
- Exclusions from Inclusive Value:
- Usage related to international roaming, international calling, premium-rated services, and event-based billing will not deplete from the inclusive value or bundles. These services will be charged separately at the applicable rates.

- Fair Usage Policy
- Vodacom PowerFlex price plan may include unlimited voice & SMS value, and as a result Vodacom will implement a Fair Usage Policy that will be monitored in real-time.
- Vodacom will closely observe instances of potentially irregular consumer usage and conduct, and retains the authority to, at its own complete discretion, discontinue or temporarily halt a customer's access to the unlimited voice & SMS services in the event of unacceptable utilization, which may encompass, but is not restricted to:
- Using the service for corporate, business, or commercial use, like
- Sim boxing or Sim Farming;
- Least cost routing (LCR)
- Call centre usage
- Pay phone usage
- Bulk calling services
- Bulk SMS services
- Machine to Machine or IOT (Internet of Things) applications
- Server hosting
- SPAM, Scam and/or Phishing SMSs
- Any user which causes reputational damage to Vodacom or any third party or brings Vodacom's brand into disrepute
- Any use which amounts to a breach of any other agreement Vodacom may have entered into.
- Any use which intentionally interferes with Vodacom's rights or the rights of third parties
- Any use which degrades Vodacom's network quality or places unreasonable constraint on the Vodacom Network
- Any use which intentionally interferes with Vodacom's ability to provide services
- Any criminal, illegal, unlawful, or fraudulent act
- A customer will be notified when Vodacom has detected usage behaviour in contravention of this Fair Use Policy and failure to comply will result in termination of services
- Vodacom Fair Usage Policy for Unlimited Voice services is 15 000 min's
- Vodacom Fair Usage Policy for Unlimited SMS is 9000 SMS's
- Cancellation of PowerFlex Subscription
- Customers may cancel their PowerFlex Subscription at any time. Upon cancellation, the subscription will remain active until the next billing or anniversary date, after which it will automatically expire.
- Once the subscription has expired, customers will still be able to purchase open market voice and data bundles through any of Vodacom’s Self-Help channels, including Vodacom Online, the VodaPay App, and USSD.
