Shakeoff2020 Terms and Conditions

Vodacom (Pty) Ltd ("Vodacom") is running the Vodacom Summer ShakeOff  Promotion ("the promotion"), where you stand a chance of winning your share of amazing prizes!

All participants during the term of the Competition agree to be bound by the following Terms and Conditions:

Duration

  1. The Vodacom Summer ShakeOff promotion ("the promotion") is available from the 7th of November 2020 ("start date"), and it will run until the 6th of February 2021 ("end date").

  2. Vodacom reserves the right to change or extend the promotional period based on reasonable prior notice.

  3. Vodacom reserves the right to amend these terms and conditions and where such change is material, Vodacom shall provide its customers with reasonable prior written notice before implementing any such change.

Eligibility

  1. The ShakeOff Summer promotion is available to all Vodacom Prepaid, Top-Up and Contract customers, including those who activate a new SIM card on or port into the Vodacom network during the promotional period.

  2. Vodacom Business end users are also eligible to participate in the promotion. Any Vodacom Business end user who participates in the promotion shall obtain the required consent, where applicable, from the Vodacom Business account holder with whom it is employed by. The end user shall also comply with all policies it is subject to by virtue of its employment by the Vodacom Business account holder. Vodacom shall not engage in any dispute between the end user and the Vodacom Business account holder and where such dispute arises, the end-user holds Vodacom harmless and indemnifies Vodacom accordingly.

  3. Vodacom Business customers purchasing any products or services by either adding to bill or via credit card are eligible for rewards.

  4. The following customers cannot participate in the promotion:

    1. All Machine to Machine (M2M)

    2. APN SIM cards

    3. Community services SIMs / phone numbers

    4. Bulk SMS applications are not permitted to participate in the Promotion

    5. A non-customer SIM is an application that uses a SIM card to send SMSs in volumes not possible by a natural person

  5. Vodacom reserves the right to disconnect and suspend the service of non-customer SIMs and non-compliant devices (as specified by the regulating body ICASA) that are being used on the Vodacom network for the purposes of the promotion.

Participation

  1. You can join the promotion at any time throughout its duration. 

  2. To participate in the ShakeOff Summer promotion, you will need to opt in via one of the following channels:

    1. My Vodacom App

    2. USSD (by dialling *133# )

    3. WhatsApp (by messaging "ShakeOff" to 082 009 8624)

  3. You are only required to opt in once in order to participate in the promotion. You will be able to play the Daily Free ShakeOff Summer game, but will not be able to redeem prizes, earn VodaBucks or play MegaShake games until you have opted in to the promotion.

  4. By opting into the promotion, you provide Vodacom with permission to monitor your behaviours in order to reward you with VodaBucks for goals completed and provide personalised offers. Vodacom protects your personal information under the Protection of Personal Information Act.

  5. By opting into the Vodacom Summer ShakeOff promotion, you will also be opted into the VodaBucks Rewards Programme and will enjoy all the benefits of the Vodacom Rewards Programme.

    If you have already opted into Vodacom Rewards or the Vodacom ShakeUp Summer promotion, you won't be required to opt into the Vodacom Summer ShakeOff again.

  6. You can opt out of the promotion at any time by selecting 'opt out' option on the ShakeOff Summer menu/page on USSD, My Vodacom App and WhatsApp.

  7. When opting out of the promotion, you:

    1. Will no longer earn VodaBucks for completing goals

    2. Will retain all VodaBucks collected as part of the promotion (but will not be able to use your VodaBucks in the VodaBucks Store or to play a MegaShake unless you are opted in)

    3. Will retain all GSM and non-GSM rewards you've won through the promotion

    4. Will retain any  puzzle pieces you have collected towards a Grand Prize

    5. Will still receive engagement communications regarding the promotion, unless you opt out of receiving SMSs for this promotion specifically

  8. This promotion will be accessible to customers while roaming, but any prizes won will only be available to use and redeem in South Africa.

  9. Customers may participate in any other Vodacom promotions running in conjunction with the promotion.

  10. You can only earn VodaBucks on goals that you have accepted.

Daily Free Shake

  1. You get one free Shake game every day that you can play to stand a chance of winning your share of free daily prizes. You will receive an SMS notification when your prize gets allocated successfully. You also get an additional free Shake game on the My Vodacom App every day.

  2. ShakeOff Summer games will differ daily and per channel (USSD, My Vodacom App and WhatsApp).

  3. Playing daily free ShakeOff Summer games will be zero-rated (free) on USSD and the My Vodacom App. Data usage for playing daily free ShakeOff Summer games on WhatsApp will not be zero-rated.

  4. Free daily ShakeOff Summer games expire at the end of each day (23:59 on day of allocation) if not played. They will not accumulate.  

Upsize Your Prize

  1. You will be offered the ability to upsize some of your prizes by adding a bundle at a discounted price.
  2. Your prize will be allocated for free, regardless of whether you choose to upsize your prize or not.

Getting VodaBucks

  1. If you are on a Prepaid, Top Up or uChoose price plan, you will earn VodaBucks when you recharge. Vodacom reserves the right to change minimum recharge amount required to earn VodaBucks during the campaign period.

    If you are a Contract Customer, you will earn VodaBucks for all your Just 4 You (J4Y) Bundle purchases.

  2. Every customer (Prepaid, Top Up and Contract participating in the promotion will receive personalized goals that you can complete to earn more VodaBucks.

    You can also add one additional personalized goal at a time. You will need to accept and complete this goal or wait for it to expire before you can add another personalized goal.

  3. Once you have completed your personalized goal to earn VodaBucks, another goal will be unlocked that you can perform in order to earn more VodaBucks.

  4. Earned VodaBucks will not expire and will accumulate and be available for use until the end of the promotion.

  5. You will receive VodaBucks on the MSISDN that you used to performed the goal (Master accounts will not receive VodaBucks earned by child accounts).

  6. In an event that a recharge is done for another MSISDN through credit card or any other method of payment, VodaBucks will only be earned on the MSISDN that has loaded a recharge.

  7. VodaBucks cannot be transferred to another customer.

  8. VodaBucks cannot be redeemed for cash, airtime or any other Vodacom products, services or rewards (with the exception of spending it in the VodaBucks Store on the My Vodacom App).

  9. Customers can access their VodaBucks balance and use their VodaBucks to play Shake games via any of the participating channels, regardless of which channel the VodaBucks were earned through.

  10. For certain goals, VodaBucks will be allocated in real-time, immediately after a qualifying goal was completed where possible.

  11. For certain goals, VodaBucks will be not allocated in real-time, this will be indicated to you where applicable.

  12. VodaBucks are only valid for the period of the promotion and shall automatically expire when the promotion comes to an end.

  13. You will be able to view your  VodaBucks balance via the following channels:

    1. USSD (*133#)

    2. Vodacom Online (My Vodacom App, portal and mobisite)

    3. Whatsapp (082 009 8624)

  14. You will retain your VodaBucks when you migrate to a different price plan, but you will need to opt back into the promotion in order to access, use or earn more VodaBucks.

  15. When migrating to a different price plan, you will be opted out of the promotion and you:

    1. Will no longer earn VodaBucks for completing goals

    2. Will retain all VodaBucks collected as part of the promotion (but will not be able to use your VodaBucks in the VodaBucks Store or to play a MegaShake unless you opt back in)

    3. Will retain all GSM and non-GSM rewards you"ve won through the promotion

    4. Will retain any  puzzle pieces you have collected towards a Grand Prize

    5. Will still receive engagement communications regarding the promotion, unless you opt out of receiving SMSs for this promotion specifically

MegaShake

  1.  You can use your VodaBucks to play a MegaShake game to stand a chance win a prize.

  2. Each MegaShake game costs 5 VodaBucks. Vodacom reserves the right to change the number of VodaBucks required to play a MegaShake.

Rewards and Prizes

  1. You stand a chance to win prizes in the following categories:

    1. Free data, voice and integrated bundles

    2. Discounts on data, voice and integrated bundles

    3. Content-specific bundles and Vodacom Tickets

    4. Electronics and gaming

    5. Homeware

    6. Lifestyle vouchers (food, clothing, experiences etc.)

    7. VodaBucks to use on a MegaShake or in the VodaBucks Store

    8. Discounts on Vodacom products and services

    9. Cash prizes

    10. Puzzle Pieces to collect towards one of the Grand Prize Puzzles

  2.  You can view all the prizes that you've won through the ShakeOff Summer promotion via:

    1. The My Vodacom App (under Prize History)

    2. WhatsApp

    3. USSD (*133# and select "Prize History"option)

Grand Prize Puzzles

  1. When you play a daily Shake or a MegaShake game, you stand a chance to win puzzle pieces to collect towards one of the Grand Prize Puzzles. This competition runs from 00h00 (midnight) on the 7th November 2020 ("start date") and ends at 23h59 (midnight) on the 6th of February 2021 ("end date"). Any entries received after the closing date will not be considered for the competition. The duration of the competition may be changed at the discretion of Vodacom.

Final puzzle piece winner selection

  1. All customers that have collected puzzle pieces towards a Grand Prize Puzzle except the one remaining puzzle piece, will put on the list to be eligible to win the final puzzle piece.

    Customers from this list of eligible entries, will have a chance to win one of the last puzzle pieces and the Grand Prize. If a winner cannot accept the prize for any reason whatsoever, the prize will be awarded to the next selected qualifying entrant.

    Once all requirements are verified - the final puzzle piece will be allocated to the winner within 24 hours.

    Vodacom will then use all reasonable efforts to contact the winners telephonically (between the working hours of 08h00 and 17h00), on the cell phone numbers used to participate in the competition. Vodacom will attempt to contact the winners for a period of three (3) working days after they won and been verified.Should a participant not be available on the contact number during the timeframe stipulated or reject, forfeit or decline acceptance of the prize, that person's right to the prize will be deemed to have been waived and the prize will be forfeited. Vodacom reserves the right to then award the prize to the next selected entrant or carry over the prize to the next month.

  2. The claim for the prize will be subject to security and validation, failing which, the winner will forfeit the prize and the prize will be awarded to the next selected qualifying entrant. Vodacom reserves the right to withhold the reward until it is satisfied that the claim is valid. Vodacom may also refuse to award the prize if these Terms and Conditions have not been adhered to or if it detects any irregularities or fraudulent practices. Vodacom is entitled in its entire discretion to reject any participant for any reason and will not be obliged to notify that they are rejected. 

Publication of winner's details

  1. Winners will be asked to consent in writing to their image and/or likeness being used and published by Vodacom in connection with the competition for a period of twelve (12) months after they have been announced as winners. The winner may decline the use of their image and/or likeness by Vodacom.

    If they agree to have their details published, the winner's name and location may be displayed on the Vodacom website, Vodacom social media channels, Vodacom partner channels and/or on screens and in-store TVs within Vodacom-approved sales channels.

Eligibility for a Grand Prizes

  1. In order to be eligible for a Grand Prize, you are required to:

    1.  Be in possession of a valid South African ID or valid permanent residence permit valid for a period exceeding 12 (twelve) months for the Republic of South Africa and valid at the end date of the competition.

    2. The selected winners must be able to identify themselves (in a manner determined by Vodacom) as the qualifying entrants to the competition and have to comply with the required validation procedure in order to claim the prize.

    3. The selected winners must have complied with these Terms and Conditions to enter and be on an active, qualifying contract with no accounts held with Vodacom being in arrears to be eligible to win the prize.

    4. In the event that the user of the mobile phone (i.e. the participant in the competition) is not the person that is responsible for payment of the qualifying contract/existing qualifying contract, then the prize will be awarded to the person that is the account holder and responsible for payment of the qualifying contract/existing qualifying contract.

    5. In the event that it is a Vodacom Business account and that the user of the mobile phone (i.e. the participant in the competition) is not the person that is responsible for payment of the qualifying contract/existing qualifying contract, then the prize will be awarded to the user of the mobile phone and not to the account holder

    6. The prize is not transferable or exchangeable.

    7. In the event of a dispute in regard to any aspect of the competition and/or the Terms and Conditions, Vodacom's decision will be final and binding and no correspondence will be entered into.

    8. Employees, directors and agents of Vodacom and all participating stores, their immediate families, life partners, business partners and associates and any person directly involved with the sponsoring, devising, production, management or marketing of this competition are not eligible to participate in this competition.

  2. The following Grand Prizes are up for grabs:

    1. One (1) customer will win Mini Cooper 3-Door Hatch, the vehicle is not transferable and cannot be exchanged for cash.

    2. Twenty Three (23) customers will win a cash prize worth R50 000 each.Participants are only eligible for one cash prize per winning customer.

    3. Twenty Three (23) customers will win a cash prize worth R10 000 each.Participants are only eligible for one cash prize per winning customer.

    4. Twenty (20) customers will win Samsung iconic devices worth R30 000 each. Participants are only eligible for one Samsung product per winning customer.

    5. Two Hundred (200) customers will win a Smartphone. Participants are only eligible for one devise product per winning customer.

    6. Seven (7) customers will win SMEG appliances worth R20 000. Participants are only eligible for one SMEG set per winning customer.

    7. Twenty (20) customers will win a Connected Home Kit worth R20 000. Participants are only eligible for one Connected Home Kit per winning customer.

    8. Sixty (60) customers will win 1 Million Megs for one year. The allocation will be 83 gigabytes each month for 11 months & 87 gigabytes on the 12th month. Participants are only eligible for one prize per winning customer.

    9. Forty (40) customers will win data & airtime valued at R12 000. 1 Million Megs for one year  The allocation will be R1000 Airtime per month for prepaid and hybrid customers, and R1000 Credit for Contract customers for 12 months. Participants are only eligible for one prize per winning customer.

    10. Five Thousand (5 000) customers will win a mystery prize to the value of R200 up to R20 000. Participants are only eligible for one prize per winning customer.

Personal information

  1. User data collected via the Competition will not be used for any other purpose than for execution of the Competition.

  2. User data collected via entry for this Competition will be stored for as long as it is legally required to and in accordance with Vodacom's Privacy Policy, http://www.vodacom.co.za/vodacom/terms/privacy-policy.

General

  1. Nothing in these Terms and Conditions is intended to, or must be understood to, unlawfully restrict, limit or avoid any rights or obligations, as the case may be, created for either the participant or the promoter in terms of the Consumer Protection Act, 68 of 2008 ("CPA").

  2. The judges' decision on any aspect of the Competition including the allocation of the prizes will be final and binding and no correspondence will be entered into.

  3. In the event of a dispute in regard to any aspect of the Competition and/or the Terms and Conditions, Vodacom's decision will be final and binding and no correspondence will be entered into.

  4. Vodacom may refuse to award a prize if entry procedures or these Terms and Conditions have not been adhered to or if it detects any irregularities or fraudulent practices.  Vodacom is entitled in its entire discretion to reject any participant for any reason and will not be obliged to notify participants that they are rejected. 

  5. Vodacom and/or any other person or party associated with the Competition, their associated companies, agents, contractors and sponsors and any of its personnel involved in the Competition, shall not be liable whatsoever for any loss or damage incurred or suffered (including but not limited to direct or indirect or consequential loss), death or personal injury suffered or sustained arising from either participation in the Competition or from claiming the prize.

  6. Vodacom is not liable for any technical failures affecting participation and / or prize redemption process of the Competition.  In addition, neither Vodacom nor its agents shall be responsible for any loss or misdirected entries, including entries that were not received due to any failure of hardware, software, or other computer or technical systems affecting participating in and/or the prize redemption process of the Competition.

  7. Vodacom, its directors, employees, agents and distributors, are not responsible for any misrepresentation (whether written or verbal) in respect of any prize nor in respect of any warranties, guarantees or undertakings given by any person other than Vodacom itself.

  8.  If Vodacom is required by law to alter or cancel any aspect of the Competition or to terminate it as a result of changes in legislation, or for any reason whatsoever, it will have the right to terminate the Competition being offered, with immediate effect and without notice. In such event all entrants hereby waive any rights which they may have against Vodacom and its associated companies, agents, contractors and/or sponsors.

  9. All information relating to the Competition which is published on any marketing material will form part of these Terms and Conditions. In the event of any conflict between such marketing material and these Terms and Conditions, these Terms and Conditions shall prevail.

  10. The Competition is also subject to, and must be read in conjunction with, Vodacom's existing terms and conditions applicable to its website and mobile site respectively:
