My Vodacom App eVoucher Competition

Abbreviated Terms and Conditions

General

  1. The competition will run from 20 July 2020 to 09 August 2020.

  2. Vodacom reserves the right to change these terms and conditions and will provide participating customers with reasonable notice prior to implementing such changes as required under the Consumer Protection Act.

  3. Vodacom protects participant's personal information according to The Privacy Act.

  4. By entering the competition, customers provide Vodacom with permission to use their information for any further marketing purposes.

  5. The Competition is also subject to, and must be read in conjunction with, Vodacom's existing terms and conditions applicable to its website and mobile site respectively: http://www.vodacom.co.za/personal/main/termsandconditions/websitetermsandconditions.

Eligibility

  1. The competition is available to all Vodacom Prepaid, Top-Up, uChoose and Contract customers, including those who activate a new SIM card on or port into the Vodacom network during the competition period.

  2. You can only participate in this competition via version V10.1 and above of the My Vodacom App.

  3. Vodacom Corporate customers with Employee Liable accounts (employee pays for additional usage on the account) are also eligible to participate in the competition.

  4. The following customers are excluded from participating in the competition:

    • All Vodacom Corporate customers with Corporate Liable accounts (company pays 100% of the account)

    • All Machine-to-Machine (M2M) customers

    • Community services SIMs / phone numbers

    • Bulk SMS applications are not permitted to participate in the competition

    • Anon-customer SIM is an application that uses a SIM card to send SMSs in volumes not possible by a natural person

  5. Vodacom reserves the right to disconnect and suspend the service of non-customer SIMs and non-compliant devices (as specified by the regulating body ICASA) that are being used on the Vodacom network for the purposes of the competition.

  6. Employees, directors and agents of Vodacom and all participating stores, their immediate families, life partners, business partners and associates and any person directly involved with the sponsoring, devising, production, management or marketing of this competition are not eligible to participate in this Competition.

Participation

  1. Customers can enter the competition each week between the following dates:

    • Week 1: 20 Jul - 26 Jul 2020

    • Week 2: 27 Jul - 02 Aug 2020

    • Week 3: 03 Aug - 09 Aug 2020

  2. Customers are eligible to enter the competition once per week using a valid Vodacom number and email address through the competition page that can be accessed through the My Vodacom App.

  3. To enter the competition, a customer will need to:

    • Download the My Vodacom App or update to the latest version on the Google Play Store or Apple App Store

    • Open up the app and tap on the 'More' menu at the bottom of the screen

    • Fill out the required information on the competition entry page and answer the required questions correctly

    • This will enter a customer into the weekly draw to win Shoprite (5 x R300) and Takealot (5 x R500) vouchers.

  4. After entering the competition in Week 1, Week 2 and Week 3 through the competition entry page, customers can also enter that week's draw to win Shoprite (10 x R500) and Takealot (10 x R1,000) vouchers by recharging their airtime, purchasing a bundle or buying a Just 4 You offer on the My Vodacom.

Voucher Prizes

  1. Prizes consist of electronic vouchers.

  2. Week 1: 20 July 2020 - 26 July 2020

    • Shoprite (5 x R300) and Takealot (5 x R500) vouchers - entry through competition page.

    • Shoprite (10 x R500) and Takealot (10 x R500) vouchers - entry through competition page and customer needs to recharge airtime, purchase a bundle or buy a Just 4 You offer on the My Vodacom App

  3. Week 2: 27 July 2020 - 02 Aug 2020

    • Shoprite (5 x R300) and Takealot (5 x R500) vouchers. Entry through competition page.

    • Shoprite (10 x R500) and Takealot (10 x R500) vouchers. Entry through competition page and customer needs to recharge airtime, purchase a bundle or buy a Just 4 You offer on the My Vodacom App

  4. Week 3: 03 August - 09 August 2020

    • Shoprite (5 x R300) and Takealot (5 x R500) vouchers. Entry through competition page.

    • Shoprite (10 x R500) and Takealot (10 x R500) vouchers. Entry through competition page and customer needs to recharge airtime, purchase a bundle or buy a Just 4 You offer on the My Vodacom App

  5. The voucher received will have a validity period of 12 months from date issued for Shoprite vouchers and 3 years for Takealot vouchers. Vodacom is not liable to reimburse the winner if the voucher is not used within the specified timeframe.

  6. This voucher is not transferable to cash nor can the voucher be allocated to a beneficiary.

  7. Prize vouchers will be sent to customers via email.

Winners

  1. Winners will be randomly selected by means of an electronic random draw from all eligible entries which meet the requirements set out in these Terms and Conditions in the week after each competition closes.

  2. Vodacom reserves the rights to use personal information to contact the winner.

  3. Winners will be contacted during working hours (08h00 to 17h00) by phone on or after the draw date, using the cell phone number associated with his/ her entry into the Competition.

  4. Winners information (Name and Surname) well be displayed on the competition winners page and on the Vodacom Now! Blog.

Full terms and Conditions

  1. The selected winners must be able to identify themselves (in a manner determined by Vodacom) as the qualifying entrants to the Competition and have to comply with the required validation procedure in order to claim the prizes.

  2. The selected winners must have complied with these Terms and Conditions to enter and be on an active, qualifying contract with no accounts held with Vodacom being in arrears to be eligible to win the prizes.

  3. All risks and ownership of the prize shall pass to the winner on transfer/delivery thereof and hence all of Vodacom's obligations in regard to the Competition as well as in regard to the prize shall terminate. Vodacom will advise of arrangements in respect of the prize distribution at the time of contacting the selected winner.

  4. Vodacom (Pty) Ltd will use reasonable efforts to contact the winner telephonically on the contact details used to participate in the Competition. Vodacom (Pty) Ltd shall attempt to contact the winner for a period of 2 (two) working days after his/ her name has been drawn and verified as a winner.

  5. Should a participant not be available on the contact number during the timeframe stipulated or reject, forfeit or decline acceptance of the prize, that person's right to the prize will be deemed to have been waived and the prize will be forfeited. Vodacom reserves the right to then award the prize to the next selected entrant.

  6. The claim for the prize will be subject to security and validation, failing which the winner will forfeit the prize and the prize will be awarded to the next selected qualifying entrant.

  7. If a winner cannot accept the prize for any reason whatsoever, the prize will be awarded to the next selected qualifying entrant.

  8. Vodacom reserves the right to withhold any prize until it is satisfied that the claim by the winner is valid.

  9. In the event that the user of the mobile phone (i.e. the participant in the Competition) is not the person that is responsible for payment of the qualifying contract/ existing qualifying contract, then the prize will be awarded to the person that is the account holder and responsible for payment of the qualifying contract/ existing qualifying contract.

  10. All prepaid, contract, Top Up and uChoose Vodacom Consumer customers, including those who activate a new SIM card on or port in to the Vodacom network during the Competition Period, will qualify to participate.  Vodacom Corporate customers with Employee Liable accounts (employee pays for additional usage on the account) are also eligible to participate in the competition.

  11. The following customers are excluded from participating in the competition:

    • All Vodacom Corporate customers with Corporate Liable accounts (company pays 100% of the account)

    • All Machine to Machine customers

    • Community services SIMs / phone numbers

    • Bulk SMS applications are not permitted to participate in the Competition

  12. The prize is not transferable or exchangeable.

  13. In the event of a dispute in regard to any aspect of the Competition and/or the Terms and Conditions, Vodacom's decision will be final and binding and no correspondence will be entered into.

  14. Vodacom reserves the right to change these terms and conditions and will provide participating customers with reasonable notice of such change prior to implementing such changes where such change is required under the Consumer Protection Act.

  15. User data collected via the Competition will not be used for any other purpose than for the Competition only. 

  16. User data collected via the entry for this Competition will be stored for as long as it is legally required to and in accordance with Vodacom's Privacy Policy, access on the Vodacom website.  If there is no legal requirement, the collected information will only be stored for as long as it is needed.

  17. Vodacom protects participants personal info according to The Privacy Act

  18. Employees, directors and agents of Vodacom and all participating stores, their immediate families, life partners, business partners and associates and any person directly involved with the sponsoring, devising, production, management or marketing of this Competition are not eligible to participate in this Competition.

  19. The duration of the Competition may be extended or curtailed at the discretion of Vodacom.

  20. Vodacom is not liable for any technical failures affecting participation and / or prize redemption process of the Competition.

  21. Vodacom shall not be liable for taxes or any costs incurred by the winners for entering the Competition or in claiming the prize.

  22. Neither Vodacom nor any other person or party associated with the Competition, their associated companies, agents, contractors and sponsors and any of its personnel involved in the Competition, shall be liable whatsoever for any loss or damage incurred or suffered (including but not limited to direct or indirect or consequential loss), death or personal injury suffered or sustained arising from either participation in the Competition or from claiming the prize or after claiming the prize.

  23. In addition, neither Vodacom nor its agents shall be responsible for any loss or misdirected entries, including entries that were not received due to any failure of hardware, software, or other computer or technical systems affecting participating and/or prize redemption process of the Competition.

  24. If Vodacom is required by law to alter or cancel any aspect of the Competition or to terminate it as a result of changes in legislation, or for any reason whatsoever, it will have the right to terminate the Competition being offered, with immediate effect and without notice. In such event all entrants hereby waive any rights which they may have against Vodacom and its associated companies, agents, contractors and/or sponsors.

  25. Vodacom may refuse to award the prize if these Terms and Conditions have not been adhered to or if it detects any irregularities or fraudulent practices. Vodacom is entitled in its entire discretion to reject any participant for any reason and will not be obliged to notify that they are rejected. 

  26. All information relating to the Competition which is published on any marketing material will form part of these Terms and Conditions. In the event of any conflict between such marketing material and these Terms and Conditions, these Terms and Conditions shall prevail.
