Set up your account & link an M-Pesa Visa card              

If you are an existing M-Pesa customer with a standard account, you can upgrade your account to premium status and link a prepaid M-Pesa Visa card. Visit an M-Pesa outlet with your green barcoded ID book and complete the quick FICA process in-store. After you receive the SMS confirming your account upgrade was successful, you can then link your card to your M-Pesa wallet.

  • Get your free M-Pesa debit card at a Vodacom Shop or Vodacom approved outlet provided you have your SA ID to upgrade your account.
  • Receive 60 FREE (Prepaid or Top Up) on-net voice minutes after linking your M-Pesa debit card.
  • You can use your M-Pesa debit card to withdraw cash at any ATM or cash back from participating retailers.

Unlike a bank account, there are NO MONTHLY FEES!

    To register for M-Pesa, you must be a South African citizen on the Vodacom network and be at least 16 years old.

    When you transfer money to an unregistered customer, they will receive an e-money voucher. They can go to any m-pesa outlet to get cash against that e-money voucher. This service is FREE for the receiver
