M-Pesa discontinuation details

The M-Pesa product will be discontinued at the end of June 2016.

In the meantime, you’ll no longer be able to deposit money into your M-Pesa account, however you can still spend or withdraw money and buy airtime or electricity until 30 June 2016. Withdrawals can be made at any Vodacom M-Pesa agent or Vodacom Shop. 

Got an M-Pesa Visa Card? You can withdraw at an ATM or continue using your Visa card to pay for goods and even get cash back at selected retail stores including Pick n Pay and Shoprite.

Remember to withdraw or spend your money before 30 June 2016 as your M-Pesa wallet will be closed thereafter.

Set up your account & link an M-Pesa Visa card              

If you are an existing M-Pesa customer with a standard account, you can upgrade your account to premium status and link a prepaid M-Pesa Visa card. Visit an M-Pesa outlet with your green barcoded ID book and complete the quick FICA process in-store. After you receive the SMS confirming your account upgrade was successful, you can then link your card to your M-Pesa wallet.


How much do I pay to use M-Pesa?

Unlike a bank account, there are NO MONTHLY FEES!

Deposits are FREE and you pay affordable transaction fees to withdraw and transfer M-Pesa.
