Onyx membership changes

What's new and when?

Since the launch of our Onyx and Platinum programmes in 2003, the benefits and rules have remained mostly unchanged. Due to the introduction of many new products and services to our portfolio, it is now essential for us to revise the rules and membership criteria of our Onyx and Platinum programmes in order to continue to offer our members a superior experience.

  • Membership of the prestigious Vodacom Onyx programme will now be confirmed by a personal invitation.  It will provide us with a unique opportunity to recognise strategic accounts and a limited number of customers.

  • Membership of the exclusive Vodacom Platinum programme will be available to our private customers who spend an
    average of R2400 or more per month**.

  • Congratulations, you are officially invited to be a member of our Onyx programme!

  • Membership will continue to be reviewed annually.

These changes will be effective from 1 June 2016.

How will this affect your current and future membership? 

Since your Onyx membership expires between 1 March and 31 May 2016, the following programme rules will apply:

  • Your membership will be renewed based on the current spend criteria, that is R5200 or more per month excluding roaming and R7200 or more per month including roaming*.

  • If you do not meet the current spend criteria (R5200 or more per month excluding roaming and R7200 or more per month including roaming*), your membership will end, as per the current programme membership rules.

  • If you do not meet the existing spend criteria (R5200 or more per month excluding roaming and R7200 or more per month including roaming*), but you meet the existing Platinum membership criteria (R2200 or more per month excluding roaming and R4200 or more per month including roaming*), you will be moved to the Platinum programme, as per the current programme membership rules.

  • If you are moved from the Onyx to the Platinum progamme between 1 March and 31 May, you will need to maintain an average spend of R2400 or more per month** in order for your Platinum membership to be renewed in 2017, as per the new programme rules.
  • Once your Onyx membership has lapsed, you will need to increase your spend to the required level of R2400 or more per month** to qualify for membership of the Platinum programme.
