Onyx membership changes

What's new and when?

Since the launch of our Onyx and Platinum programmes in 2003, the benefits and rules have remained mostly unchanged. Due to the introduction of many new products and services to our portfolio, it is now essential for us to revise the rules and membership criteria of our Onyx and Platinum programmes in order to continue to offer our members a superior experience.

What’s new and when?

Membership of the prestigious Vodacom Onyx programme will now be confirmed by a personal invitation.  It will provide us with a unique opportunity to recognise strategic accounts and a limited number of customers.

Membership of the exclusive Vodacom Platinum programme will be available to our private customers who spend an average of R2400 or more per month**.

Membership of both programmes will continue to be reviewed annually.

These changes will be effective from 1 June 2016.

How will this affect your current and future membership? 

Since your Onyx membership expires between 1 March and 31 May 2016, the current programme rules will apply:

  • Your Onyx programme membership will lapse. If you meet the existing Platinum average spend criteria of R2 200 or more per month* excluding roaming and R4 200 or more per month* including roaming, you will become a member of the Platinum programme.
  • If you do not meet the existing Platinum programme average spend criteria of R2 200 or more per month* excluding    roaming and R4 200 or more per month including roaming*, required for membership to the Platinum programme, you will not qualify as a member of the Platinum programme and your Onyx membership will lapse.   
  • From 1 June 2016, new platinum programme qualifying spend criteria will apply. You will need to maintain an average spend of R2 400 or more per month** for your Platinum programme membership to be renewed in 2017.
