Presenter and mentors

ZABA SIMBINE - Presenter

If Zaba Simbine’s name was in the dictionary ,you'd probably find the words “bubbly", enthusiastic and life of the party  as the description! This young woman is multi-talented she is a radio and TV presenter and astute businesswoman .

Zaba is the face of a jewellery range and a presenter for youth lifestyle TV show Hectic Nine 9 . Self –confessed chatterbox,Zaba was always told that she’d make a career out of talking  and they weren’t wrong. The glamour girl has been in the limelight since the age of three , doing pageants , modelling and adverts.

Zaba got into radio by chance after a friend who worked in the industry gave her a push in the right direction . She worked at the Durban Youth Radio  and VOW FM before joining East Coast Radio as a trainee DJ.

EUPHONIK

Arguably one of  South Africa’s most sought after Dj’s and recently included in the Mail & Guardian’s Top 300 young South Africans, Themba Nkosi aka Euphonik has scaled the ranks of Dj, producer and radio presenter territory in an incredible short space of time .

He has achieved in a few years what others spend a lifetime working towards and his continued success is built on a solid foundation of perseverance and good work ethics.

This coupled with  his fun and ambitious personality make for a winning combination and is the reason that Euphonik is currently at the cutting edge of the house music scene in South Africa.

DJ ZINHLE

Metro FM and SAMA Award nominee Zinhle Jiyane, aka DJ Zinhle, stepped onto the South African DJ scene at a time when it was still very much of a man’s world, but this talented lady quickly managed to turn some heads with her crazy skills on the decks. She even grabbed the attention of some of Mzansi’s most respected DJs, such as DJ Oskido, and has today become one of the best female house DJs in SA.

DJ Zinhle never planned on becoming a DJ. In fact, she only got into it because of chance and circumstance. “My brother Zak owned a company that hired out sound equipment, and he had so much love for music that he would always de-stress through mixing vinyls at home. One day he showed me how mixing works,” says the young lady from Dannhauser in KwaZulu Natal. Her first proper gig happened when she was helping her brother set up for an event. The DJ was late, so Zinhle stepped in and the rest, as they say, is history. Well, not quite… She did, after all, have to break some ground by entering an industry dominated by men.

RIKY RICK

Riky Rick's first side of music began at a recording studio session with Bongani Fassie. It was by Bongani's side that Rick was inspired to make his own music.

That is when he released his first single Barbershop featuring DA L.E.S. He then rose to fame by the release of his hit single Nafukwa which was a big success. He then released Amantombozane which was followed by Amantombozane (Remix) featuring fellow South African recording artists OkMalumkoolKat, Maggz, Kwesta, Ginger Bread Man, Kid X, Nadia Nakai and DJ Dimplez.
He then released his major debut single Boss Zonke which peaked at number 3 on the SA Hip Hop Top Ten List. That is when he released his fifth hit single Sondela which was dedicated to his real love, featuring Zano.

On the 26th Of June, Ricky released the single, Sidlukotini.

DANNY K

In a world of throw away pop, where idols come and go, an artist who has stood the test of time is undoubtedly Danny K. Best known for his SAMA award-winning hits and the non-profit organisation SHOUT, which he co-founded in 2007, Danny continues to reinvent himself in the public eye, appealing to even the most tough and cynical audiences.

Writer and producer in the music industry with his own record, production, publishing and management companies. Not only is he a household name but he has done extensive charity and social work for many worthy causes in South Africa, e.g. performing in front of over 30 000 underprivileged kids for Nelson Mandela and Oprah Winfrey at Mr. Mandela’s annual Birthday party.

BIG NUZ

BIG NUZ is a well-known and highly celebrated Durban-based kwaito group under the Afrotainment record label. The name BIG NUZ is derived from the two key elements that define their sound. “BIG” relates to their vision of being a brand that aims to take kwaito to new heights across the continent and ultimately, the globe. They’re not in the business of doing things on a small scale. “NUZ” are letters that appear on the registration plate of vehicles registered in Umlazi township in Durban, i.e. Natal Umlazi.

With multiple awards under their names and numerous tours that haven taken place on the continent with huge success, BIG NUZ are a brand that continues to take the uniquely South African brand of music known as Kwaito to the rest of the world.
