How do I install Vodafone Sat Nav on my BlackBerry?

To install, ensure you have inserted your active, BlackBerry subscription-enabled SIM-card into your BlackBerry Curve 8310 or BlackBerry 8800. After booting up you device, simply click on the Vodafone Sat Nav icon the home screen, download and install the application, and start navigating.

How much data will I use with Vodafone Sat Nav?

Your Vodafone Sat Nav subscription for BlackBerry includes unlimited route data downloads for the first two years. You will not be charged for any navigation data. SMS-usage will be billed in accordance with your prevailing Contract tariff plan.

The amount of data downloaded for a route is influenced by the route length and on whether the route is in a city with a dense road network or in more rural areas where there are fewer roads. Typical route download size is about 1.5kb per 2 kilometres.

Can I do other things with my BlackBerry while I'm using Vodafone Sat Nav?

Yes. You can move the Vodafone Sat Nav application to the background - just press the 'End' key on your BlackBerry. This will take you to the home screen where you can make a call or run any other application you have. To go back to Vodafone Sat Nav just select its icon again on the BlackBerry Home screen.

What happens if I make a turn that is not according to the route instructions?

For small deviations from the route, Vodafone Sat Nav will simply continue to guide you to your destination as if nothing happened. If you stray further away from the original route, Vodafone Sat Nav will re-calculate the route from your current location.

How do I change the distance units in Vodafone Sat Nav?

You can change the distance units on the "Settings" screen. Simply select "Settings" from the Vodafone Sat Nav menu and change to what you require.

How do I turn the voice prompts on and off?

While navigating you can mute the voice prompts by selecting "Mute on" from the Vodafone Sat Nav menu, or you can simply press the "0" key as a shortcut. To hear voice prompts again select "Mute off" from the menu or press the "0" key again.

How do I save a location if I want to use it again?

Any location you have used recently can be found in the list of "Recent locations". For more permanent storage you can save any location to "My Places". Simply highlight the location and select "Save" from the Vodafone Sat Nav menu.

In-car devices and other GPS-enabled phones are not automatically updated with changes in the road network or with places and businesses that open close - users incur an extra cost per update with these products. Finally, in-car devices left on the dashboard put your vehicle at risk of being broken into. You are less likely to forget your Blackberry in the car since you take it wherever you go.
