About Talking Points

What is it?

As a Vodacom Prepaid customer, we will reward you for your loyalty to our network every time you recharge your prepaid account.
You will automatically earn Vodacom Talking Points and once you have accumulated an appropriate number of points, these can be redeemed for SMS, MMS and Data bundles, discounted Vodacom- to-Vodacom calls and even brand-new cellphones!
 
Talking Points are calculated by dividing the recharge amount by 10 and then rounded to the nearest whole number:
  • A R10 or R12 recharge = 1 point
  • A R29 recharge = 3 points
  • A R55 recharge = 6 points
  • A R110 recharge = 11 points
  • A R275 recharge = 28 points
  • A R1000 recharge = 100 points
  • A R49 SMS voucher = 5 points
 

How do I earn Vodacom Talking Points?

For every R10 spent on a recharge, you will earn 1 Talking Point.
No registration is required to earn Talking Points unless you want to exchange your points for a new cellphone. There is no charge to earn Talking Points, just recharge and begin earning points for as little R10 or R12 spent.

Your Talking Points are retained even if you move from one prepaid price plan to another. Points are accumulated for 18 months and if you don’t exchange them during this time they will be forfeited. However, all accumulated points will be forfeited when converting to a Contract or Top-Up tariff package.
 
 

How do I redeem or check my Talking Points balance?

To redeem your Talking Points, you must have accumulated at least 100 points.
  • Dial *111# from your Prepaid Cellphone and select ‘Talking Points’ from the menu
  • Log in to My Vodacom
  • Call 082 2411 082, FREE from your Vodacom Cellphone.
 
To redeem your points, visit a participating Vodacom outlet where you must provide your cellphone number, name, ID number and Postal Address.
