Playing the game

• Only Vodacom South Africa Prepaid, Top-Up and Contract customers are eligible to enter the game show.
•  Vodacom employees, Vodacom contractors, Vodacom business partners, DRAFT FCB, Urban Brew, BYTES call centre, Price Waterhouse Coopers employees and their immediate family are not eligible to win the game show. (In accordance to the latest CPA regulations).
• All entrants into the competition will have to SMS the entry to 32082.
• Customers will only be able to submit one valid entry per SMS.
• Vodacom will not be held responsible for entries submitted to numbers other than the dedicated VM number’s being 32082 and 0820015008
• Customers must SMS a sequence of between 6 and 9 letters from the alphabet to qualify for a prize.
• Game show entries close at midday on each Tuesday. All entries received after this time will be entered into the next week's draw (inclusive entries delayed by high volume of entries, or systems network delays).
• Using a random selection mechanism, each week independent auditors will draw 9 letters against which all the entries into the game show for a particular week will be compared.
• Those customers that have selected letters that match the letters drawn for that week by the auditors will be declared winners of that week's game show.

2. Valid Entries

In order for an entry to be valid:

• The customer simply sends an SMS containing 9 letters of the alphabet to 32082
•  Letters A-Z only.
• The qualifying question must have been correctly answered.
• In order to qualify for a prize, an entry must consist of between 6 and 9 letters of the alphabet.
• Only letters of the alphabet will be valid. Spaces between these characters will be ignored
• The entrant must have received a confirmation SMS from Vodacom containing a reference number and the draw date for which the entry has been accepted.
• Spaces will be ignored. (Remember with the “SAME” entry option a space is required after the word SAME and before the chosen 9 letters.
• Duplication of letters will be allowed e.g. SSSKJIRRR
• AAAAAAAAA (9 x A’s) is a valid combination and will qualify for the 9 letter match.
• Letters can be sent in any order e.g. ABC or BCA
• The keywords and entries are not case dependant. The customer will be able to input the entry in either upper or lowercase.
• If the SMS entry contains less than 9 letters, the entered letters will only stand a chance of winning 8, 7 or 6 letter matches. 
• An entry will be considered invalid if any of the following criteria are met:
  • Entries containing any other special characters e.g. ,./;'\[]=)(*&^%$#@!~`\|<> ?:"|{}+_ will be deemed invalid. Non-alphabetic characters are submitted e.g. *#@, i.e. not letters of the alphabet. (this rule is for the public to adhere however the Vodacom Millionaires application will remove these characters and assess the entry without them for validity)
  • More than nine letters submitted (applies to option 1 entry). However for option 3 entry: the “SAME” entry customers will send the word SAME, plus a space, plus 9 letters making a total of 14 characters.
  • Less than six letters
  • No letters submitted .i.e. blank SMS
  • Incorrect keyword submitted for the qualifying question.
  • SMS is in the incorrect format

A notification SMS is sent to customers submitting invalid SMS’s.

3. Game show SMS's

• Vodacom South Africa customers will receive 2 free game show SMS's per week.
•  Prepaid and Top-Up customers earn an additional game show SMS for every recharge.
• The 2 free game show SMS's will be loaded every Tuesday morning.
• Prepaid and Top-Up customers will receive an additional game show SMS for every recharge done in the week. The subscription airtime for Top-Up customers (e.g. R135 Family Top Up) will not qualify for the free game show SMS's applicable to recharges.
• Free game show SMS's may only be used for the game show and not for any other purpose.
• Free game show SMS's not used in a week will be forfeited and cannot be carried over to the next week.
• Customers may enter the game show as many times as they like however once the free game show SMS's have been used, a premium rate of R1.00 (including Vat) will be charged per SMS.
• SMS bundles do not apply.

4. Prizes

Prizes for a 9 letter match or an 8 letter match:

• The prize for a 9 letter match is R1 million and the prize for an 8 letter match is R200 000.
• In the event that there is more than one correct entry in a week for the 9 letter match, the weekly prize money will be shared equally between the winners. Similarly if there is more than one correct entry for the 8 letter match, the prize money will be shared equally between the winners.
• In order to claim the 9 letter or 8 letter match prize(s), the person claiming the prize, must comply with all required validation procedures which shall include (but not necessarily be limited to): 
  • Prove that he/she is the owner or authorized designated user of the cellphone number from where the winning entry was sent.
  • Be in possession of the SIM card and/or cellphone containing the confirmation SMS received from Vodacom.
  • Be over the age of 18 or in the case of a minor the prize will be awarded to the minor's legal guardian.
  • Provide valid proof of identity (i.e. South African ID book or passport or drivers license).
  • In addition the 9 letter winner needs to be a South African residing citizen.

Winners of the prizes for a 9 letter match will not be eligible to also win prizes for an 8 letter match. Once a customer wins the 9 letter match prize (1 Million) he/she cannot win the 8 letter match prize (R 200 000), unless if the customer has more than one SIM that he or she uses to play Vodacom Millionaires.

• Cash prizes will only be paid into a valid South African bank account in the name of the person who is the valid winner of the prize.

Prizes for a 7 and 6 letter match:

• Winners will receive airtime to the value of R29 for a 7 letter match and 6 letter matches will receive airtime to the value of R12.
• The airtime amounts will automatically be loaded onto the Prepaid and Top-Up winners' airtime accounts.
• Contract customers will receive an SMS containing a virtual voucher PIN code that can be used to recharge a Vodacom Prepaid or Top-Up customer.
• Car winner:
• The winner of the monthly car draw must be over the age of 18 (or in the case of a minor the prize will be awarded to the minor's legal guardian) and in possession of a valid driver's license in order to claim the prize. This prize is not transferable.

• Prizes that remain unclaimed after 3 months will be forfeited.
• Vodacom reserves the right to withhold the prize until it is satisfied that the claim is valid.
• If a dispute arises as to the validity of the claim, Vodacom may in its sole discretion reimburse the customer for the cost of the game show SMS's or provide the customer with a free game show SMS.  Vodacom's liability to the customer is limited to the cost of the SMS.
• Non-cash prizes cannot be redeemed for cash.
• The VM number, 082 243 2082 is zero rated IVR line i.e. Customers will not be billed for phoning in the Vodacom Millionaires call centre.
• Community services users can enter by dialling 0822330082 using a community services payphone and the IVR will generate 9 random letters for them and enter it into the draw. The entry will be against the users’ cellphone and not against the community services payphone.
• Community services payphones may not be entered into the draw.

5. General

• All participants, by entering this game agree to be bound by these terms and conditions.
• Vodacom will not be liable for any entry that has been omitted from participation for any reason whatsoever.
• The decision of Vodacom in regard to all aspects of the game is final and no correspondence will be entered into.
• Vodacom will assume no liability for any direct or indirect damage occurring as a result of participation in the game show or a result of the use of any of the prizes.
• If the game show is held to be or becomes unlawful, Vodacom shall have the right to terminate the game show immediately without prior notice. In such event the entrants will waive all rights they may have had and acknowledge that they will have no right of recourse to Vodacom.
• Vodacom may refuse to award any prize if any irregularities or fraudulent activities are detected.
• Vodacom will not be liable for taxes or any other cost incurred by the winner in claiming any prize.
• In case of SMS delays due to congestion on the network, customers that enter before 12:00 on Tuesday could have their SMS’s entered for the following week’s Vodacom Millionaires draw. Vodacom is only responsible to pay prizes for the entry date on the confirmation SMS received by the customer or showing in the Vodacom Millionaires portal.
• Vodacom shall be entitled, in their entire discretion, to reject any entry for any reason whatsoever and will not be obliged to correspond with any person about the game show.
• Vodacom reserves the right to terminate the game show at any time without prior notice.
