Each year, Vodacom Foundation offers bursaries to disadvantaged students to study full-time at South African universities. The Vodacom Foundation Bursary is one of the many ways Vodacom demonstrates the power to do good. The Vodacom Foundation Bursary provides bursaries to students in order to increase the South African skills base in areas of scarce skills, producing high calibre graduates from high achieving students from disadvantaged communities or disabled individuals in the ICT and engineering sectors. Bursaries are offered in the following fields of study:
- Information Technology,
- Information Systems,
- Computer Science,
- Electrical or Electronic Engineering (LC only)
- Computer Engineering
Requirements: - Applicants must be South African citizens.
- Current Matriculants need to obtain university exemption and must obtain a minimum C symbol for mathematics and physical science (Higher grade) to be considered.
- Current students should be registered for a course at university in one of the above-mentioned disciplines and should demonstrate a good academic discipline.
- Must undertake full-time undergraduate studies in a South African tertiary institution
- Applicants should have an interest in telecommunications.
- Age limit on scheme is 25 years
- Application forms that are incomplete will be disregarded.
Policy: - The initial awarding of a bursary is conditional upon the successful completion and confirmation of results of a particular academic year.
- Once a bursary has been granted, the awarding of a further bursary for the next academic year of study will only be considered after the successful completion and confirmation of results of a particular academic year.
- Needy students whose household total income does not exceed R150K a year
Application forms: Applications for bursaries will be available from 1st March to 30th June yearly. Please note that the External Bursary applications for the 2009 intake closed on 30th June 2008. Applications for the 2010 intake will open on 1st March 2009 and will close on 30th June 2009.
